Rules and taxes for seasonal rentals in Sarasota

• Rentals of six months or less are subject to Florida sales tax and Sarasota County's tourist development tax (13% combined in Sarasota County as of October 2026, per the Sarasota County Tax Collector). A written lease of more than six months is exempt.
• The City of Sarasota's vacation rental registration applies to stays shorter than 30 days. Rentals of 30 consecutive days or more are exempt.
• Many condo and homeowner associations set minimum stays or limit how many times a unit can be leased each year. Check your association's rules before listing.
